I hope that the first week of semester has treated you well. Perhaps you are even getting used to the ubiquitous numbering system and exotic acronyms used around MIT. If not, you can kvetch about it and maybe gain some helpful insights at dinner tonight.
We will begin our evening with a celebration of the sacrament of baptism for one of our own. The service will begin at 5:15 MIT time, which is n minutes after 5:15 for some integer n ≥ 5. This will be the last service in the Chapel (W15) for a while as it is being restored to the splendor envisioned by Eero Saarinen, so soak up the moatiness of the moat while you can. After the service (around 6:30), we will move to the main dining room in W11 for a festive dinner.
An alumna is having a blast doing science policy consulting Simon-Kutcher & Partners. She would love to talk to you about her work tonight in 1-135 if you would like to know more.
A couple of tickets to the consecration of the bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts on Saturday are still floating around. If you would like to go or help greet those arriving for the service, let Thea know as soon as possible.
